Studio lighting practise 2 (LO2, LO3)
Last week I practised more studio lighting. You can see some images and descriptions here.
I used a beauty dish as a main flash light and created softer light on subject’s face.
1/100s, f/14.0, ISO 100; zoom lens 24-70mm f/2.8S
To create this image I used a beauty dish on the subject and a reflector with barn doors to light up the subject’s back just behind the subject to separate the black shoulder from the black backdrop. It created a lovely streak of light on subject’s hair. I wish I asked her to move her head a bit to the side to avoid a highlight on her cheek.
1/100s, f/14.0, ISO 100; zoom lens 24-70mm f/2.8S
The following images show the adjustment of strobe pointing at the black backdrop. Here I used a purple gel to demonstrate how you can use your creativity to make background darker/lighter depending what your aim is. Personally I prefer pictures without gel but I like to explore new possibilities.
All images above: 1/100s, f/14.0, ISO 100; zoom lens 24-70mm f/2.8S
It is visible how the background is getting lighter by increasing power on the light covered with purple gel pointing to the black backdrop. Lights used: beauty dish, barn doors and light pointing at the backdrop.
Some other images from my last studio practise:
I took all images with my camera Nikon Z6, zoom lens 24-70mm f/2.8S and I used Lightroom for final editing.
