Nature and texture (LO 2,3)
It’s all about nature again. I have been practising shallow depth of field and long exposure and working with polarizing filter and ND filters.
I took all images with my camera Nikon Z6, zoom lens 24-70mm, f/2.4S. For some I used polarizing (CPL) filter, ND filter and a tripod. I used Lightroom for final editing.
Textures/Patterns & Depth of field
On the first image I captured early morning sun through the trees. Despite using quite slow shutter speed 1/3s and not using a tripod the image didn’t come out blurry. The reason for using a slower shutter speed was not having enough light.
Image 1: 1/80s, f/3.5, ISO 500; Image 2: 1/125s, f/11, ISO 180; Image 3: 1/80s, f/4.0, ISO 100; Image 4: 1/40s, f/3.2, ISO 100
Textures and patterns are very interesting and can be almost artistic. The first two images portray a repetition of pattern/texture. The image 3 & 4 are examples of shallow depth of field.
Long exposure
I was practising a long exposure technique on these images. My aim was to capture water as a mirror. I took these images during the day and therefore I had to use ND filters to make sure the photographs are not overexposed. The shutter speed used is very slow 10s and 15s. I also used a polarizing (CPL) filter to manage the reflection on water and to boost the colours. Tripod was an absolute must with such a long exposure.

“Yellow”
The following image is about “yellow” colour I felt I was being surrounded that day. I felt like seeing “yellow” everywhere. CPL filter helped me to enhance saturation.
I wished I captured this image earlier to include it into my previous blog “Window to Nature”.
